Full Bio

Owen Daniels is associate director for the Middle East Peace and Security Initiative in the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security. His work focuses on US-Gulf security cooperation, Gulf Cooperation Council alliance dynamics, Iranian-Arab Gulf relations, and broader regional security issues. Prior to joining the Atlantic Council, he worked as a research assistant on the defense analysis team at Aviation Week magazine, where he conducted US defense budget analysis. He has also worked at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS-US) and the Middle East Scientific Institute for Security (MESIS) in Amman, Jordan. His analysis has been carried in Politico, The Diplomat, The Huffington Post, and The Yemen Times, among others, and he has been quoted and interviewed by various outlets. He earned his BA with honors from Princeton University, where he majored in international relations and minored in Arabic language and culture and near Eastern studies.
