TRADE in ACTION – June 16, 2017

This week in TradeinAction: The United Kingdom’s turbulent election results are in. A complete analysis of the UK’s election results can be found here. The European Commission introduced a proposal allowing them to strip London of its right to handle certain financial transactions once they officially leave the European Union. On the US side, President Trump focused this week on apprenticeship programs. Read his speech here

Things to watch: U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer will appear before the Senate Finance and House Ways & Means panels next week to discuss the administration’s trade agenda. The next round of elections for the French National Assembly, June 18. U.K.’s Brexit negotiations with the EU due to begin on June 19th.

Economic sanctions are a powerful tool used as an alternative to war to reign in foreign nations from endangering global security.
