On April 3, the Michael S. Ansari Africa Center organized a luncheon colloquium today for Lieutenant-General (ret.) Jean-Paul Perruche, research director for Euro-Atlantic security at the French Ministry of Defense’s Institute for Strategic Research-École Militaire (IRSEM) and a member of Atlantic Council’s Strategic Advisors Group, and Maya Kandel, research fellow at IRSEM.

During the event – hosted by Ansari Center director J. Peter Pham, deputy director Bronwyn Bruton, and senior fellow Rudolph Atallah – the participants discussed the current security and other challenges on the African continent; the evolution of US strategy towards Africa; the potential for US and European cooperation there as well as US and French cooperation in particular; and the place of Africa in broader counterterrorism efforts.
