NATO’s Cybersecurity Challenges

On March 12, 2014,  NATO Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, Ambassador Sorin Ducaru met with experts from the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security to discuss NATO’s cybersecurity challenges.

The discussions covered the current cyber risk climate in the transatlantic community and the future of NATO cyber defense. Experts highlighted challenges and future prospects for NATO cyber policy, addressed the unfolding crisis in Ukraine, in particular the use of cyber tactics serving to highlight the potential shift in focus for capacity building and burden-sharing among NATO member states.

The private roundtable and dinner with Ambassador Ducaru is part of a wider Atlantic Council effort to generate discussion on current and future NATO’s capabilities in the area of emerging security challenges.
