On Tuesday, February 9, the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center hosted a panel discussion on the upcoming unveiling of the new Iran Petroleum Contract (IPC) model and its implications for the post-sanctions Iranian energy sector.

The panel featured the following renowned experts on Iran and energy: Dr. Sara Vakhshouri, Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center and President of SVB Energy International, Dr. Suzanne Maloney, Deputy Director of the Foreign Policy program at the Brookings Institution, and Guly Sabahi, a Partner with the energy sector team at Dentons. Yeganeh Torbati of Reuters moderated a discussion addressing the following questions and more:

• How does the new IPC differ from the current investment structure in Iran? How does it compare to the contracts of competing producers in the region like Iraq?
• To what degree will the new IPC impact Iran’s energy interests and its post-sanctions oil and gas production outlook?
• How will sanctions concerns influence the investment decisions of international oil companies in Iran?
