The United States electric power delivery system represents one of the most far-reaching upstream dependencies of US critical infrastructure. Cyber attacks against the power grid can cause harm to the overall power system itself, but also lead to cascading failures of the larger infrastructure, causing both physical damage and economic loss. Though some vulnerabilities are largely recognized, others have not been addressed, including systemic threats to the system as a whole. The third Cyber Risk Wednesday discussion will focus on cybersecurity challenges facing this important sector and methods of reducing the existing and future vulnerabilities.

About the Cyber Risk Wednesday Series
The Cyber Risk Wednesdays event series brings government and industry experts together with policymakers to examine topics at the core of the Cyber Statecraft Initiative’s study of interrelated cyber hazards and underlying risks.

The series is designed to expose experts from the technology, policy, and risk management communities to vibrant new cyber topics and provide a venue for the exchange of ideas. Typically, each session in the series highlights a cyber risk subject and features two related topics. The presentations are followed by a moderated question and answer session featuring the speakers and a panel of high-level technology and policy experts. The afternoon closes with a networking reception to encourage continued discussion.
