Please join us on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. for remarks by Achim Steiner, United Nations (UN) Under Secretary General and Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) for a review of key findings in the UNEP's annual "Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment" report to be released on March 31, 2015. Mr. Steiner's remarks will be followed by a moderated discussion with The Hon. Richard Morningstar, Founding Director of the Atlantic Council's Global Energy Center.

Over the past decade renewable energy has emerged as a disruptive technology adding further complexity to an already challenging 'age of energy uncertainty'. Public policy makers, investors and consumers will need to make strategic choices over the coming years that will define national and collective security interests for decades if not generations. Access to clean energy has emerged as a key variable in assuring economic opportunity and prosperity for a global population set to grow by a further two to three billion energy hungry citizens by the year 2050. This makes it by definition not only a technology issue but one with profound geopolitical implications.
