Anadolu Agency quotes Brent Scowcroft Center Resident Senior Fellow Robert A. Manning on congressional concerns about the Iranian nuclear deal and the deal’s likely impact on oil markets:

“The key issue of concern is transparency,” Robert A. Manning, a Resident Senior Fellow of the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security at the US-based Atlantic Council, told Anadolu Agency on Thursday.

“Anything less than full transparency, as provided in implementing the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Additional Protocol, is a deal-breaker with Congress,” he explained.

Iran and the IAEA agreed on a roadmap to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue on July 14, the day the nuclear deal was signed in Austrian capital Vienna.

In addition, the agency made a separate agreement with Iran over the country’s Parchin military site to inspect past nuclear activities of Iran and to decide whether its nuclear program has a military dimension.

“There has been concern about Iran’s past military-related activities,” Manning reminded.
