US News and World Report quotes Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center Deputy Director Jason Marczak on why despite the reopening of the US embassy in Cuba, much diplomatic work remains before relations will be completely normalized:

“There are a lot of incredibly contentious issues that remain on the agenda between the United States and Cuba,” says Jason Marczak, Deputy Director of the Adrienne Arscht Latin American Center at the Atlantic Council. “The embassy opening tomorrow is a momentous occasion, but we shouldn’t lose sight of the many things that still have yet to be done not just on the US-Cuba side, but also how the United States can help to facilitate Cuba’s broader global economic reintegration.”
