Scowcroft Center Nonresident Senior Fellow, Lieutenant General Patrick O’Reilly (Ret.) received the Polish Armed Forces Gold Award from the Polish Ministry of Defense on March 18. General O’Reilly was recognized for his contributions while he was director of the Missile Defense Agency at the US Department of Defense, where he served on the negotiating team for the US/Poland missile defense agreement and oversaw the establishment of the US/Polish missile defense site. The award was presented by Polish Defense Attaché, Brigadier General Jaroslaw Strozyk at a ceremony at the Polish Embassy. The occasion also celebrated the fifteenth anniversary of Poland’s entry into NATO.
