Diplomats from six world powers and Iran meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, are hoping that the onset of springtime vacations in three key capitals will quiet the political static surrounding their nuclear negotiations, and improve their prospects of concluding a new agreement by the end of this month.
Recent weeks have seen Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as hawkish legislators in Washingtonand Tehran mobilizing against the compromise deal currently being negotiated. That agreement would see Iran continue to operate much of its nuclear infrastructure, but under tighter, verifiable restrictions that would curb its ability to produce a nuclear weapon for at least a decade.
