Turkey’s fractious party leaders are recalibrating their positions, drawing red lines while hinting at compromise, in a sign that weeks of political paralysis lie ahead after a bitter election resulted in the first hung parliament in more than a decade.
In the days since Sunday’s inconclusive vote, markets have been volatile and sporadic street violence broke out in Turkey’s Kurdish regions, signaling the possible threat to economic and social stability posed by a leadership vacuum.
