Carrie Kolasky was senior vice president of Advancement and Partnerships at the Atlantic Council overseeing day-to-day development operations as well as providing strategic guidance on issues relevant to the Council’s overall direction as a part of the senior management team. Carrie is a development professional with more than 20 years of experience with some of Washington’s leading policy and advocacy organizations. She brings more than two decades of recognized experience in fundraising strategies from corporations, foundations, and high-worth individuals.

Prior to joining the Council, she was the founding vice president of Development at the Urban Institute for three-and-a-half years building and leading a strong and capable team of professional staff, strengthening the office’s infrastructure and securing new institutional support from foundations, corporations and individuals. She has extensive development experience, with work ranging from development directorships to external affairs to political fundraising. She spent more than 10 years at the Brookings Institution, where she most recently served as the deputy director and external affairs officer for the Metropolitan Policy Program, helping build the program, provide strategic direction, and manage operations. She has also held directorships at the American Cancer Society Foundation and the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City.

Carrie holds a BA degree with a major in political science from the University of Mary Washington and attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government Executive Education program in state and local leadership. She serves on the board of directors at the Youth Baseball Academy in Washington, DC and at the Global Institute on Innovation Districts. She resides in Washington, DC with her husband and three children.
