Mohsen Tavakol is a former nonresident senior fellow with the Middle East Programs at the Atlantic Council.

Mohsen worked for the Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson for 23 years (1993-2016), where he held various technical, operations, sales and executive positions, including more than 11 years as managing director and chief executive officer for various Ericsson companies, operating in complex social and political environments, where he managed organizations of up to 1,800 employees and annual sales of ~€400 million.

Since 2017, he has been engaged in investment in and development of advanced security and violence prevention technologies, among other solutions, in addition to advisory engagements related to international trade compliance, sanctions, and business ethics, with focus on Middle East and Africa.

The biggest part of Mohsen’s professional career has been spent in high-risk environments around the globe, where continuous risk assessments – including close encounter with violent political and sectarian extremism, terrorism, social unrest and riots, violation of human rights, as well as armed conflicts – have recurrently been considered in his business management analysis, evaluations, and decision-making process in order to make suitable decisions to protect lives and business endeavors.

Mohsen received his Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Lund Institute of Technology in Lund, Sweden, and his Master in International Business Administration from Alliant International University in San Diego, USA.
