Press and Members Call: What to expect from the US-China cyber deal?

You are cordially invited to participate in a special briefing on Tuesday, October 6, at 10:00 a.m. EST on the implications of the recent cyber deal between the United States and China, in which the two countries agreed not to conduct cyber-enabled economic espionage. While many China experts and cybersecurity professionals have raised concerns about the limitations of the agreement and the credibility of China’s commitment to it – the country has repeatedly denied any engagement in commercial cyber theft despite mounting evidence suggesting otherwise – the agreement nevertheless marks the first time the United States and China have publicly agreed on the impermissibility of economic espionage.
To discuss the effectiveness of the deal in curbing cyber theft and its implications for US businesses and broader US-China relations, the call brings together Jason Healey, Senior Fellow at the Cyber Statecraft Initiative of the Atlantic Council, James Mulvenon, Deputy Director of Advanced Analysis at DGI’s Center for Intelligence Research and Analysis, and Adam Segal, Maurice R. Greenberg Fellow for China Studies and Director of the Digital and Cyberspace Policy Program at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Kindly RSVP online, or contact Kayvan Chinichian at kchinichian@atlanticcouncil.org or at 202-778-4961 if you have any questions. This call will be on-the-record.
