On December 7, 2016, as President-Elect Trump prepares to take office and European unity is challenged both within and beyond Europe’s borders, the Atlantic Council held a private roundtable and reception for a distinguished delegation of members of parliament from Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania. This special session convened members of parliament from the Baltic region with Washington-based experts to discuss the transatlantic relationship and the future of US-Baltic cooperation.

The delegation was led by former Ambassador of Latvia to the United States Ojārs Ēriks Kalnins, the chairman of the foreign affairs committee in the Parliament of Latvia. Ambassador Kalnins was accompanied by the Ambassador of Latvia to the United States Andris Teikmanis as well as members of the foreign affairs committee Mr. Sergejs Potapkins, Mr. Artis Rasmanis, Mr. Mārtiņš Bondars, and the Deputy Chairman Mr. Rihards Kols. Estonia was represented by Ambassador of Estonia to the United States Eerik Marmei, as well as Mr. Marko Mihkelson, chairman of the foreign affairs committee in the Parliament of Estonia, and Ms. Keit Pentus-Rosimannus, deputy chairman of the foreign affairs committee. Lithuania was represented by Ambassador of Lithuania to the United States Rolandas Kriščiūnas and Ambassador Žygimantas Pavilionis, a member of the foreign affairs committee in the Parliament of Lithuania.
