On February 24, Russia launched an unjustified and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. In a show of Western unity unseen in decades, the United States and NATO have coordinated behind a multi-pronged response to the Kremlin’s aggression. Most countries across Latin America and the Caribbean have joined the West in its condemnation. As Ukrainians continue to resist Russian forces, the world is questioning how this conflict will end, what it means for European security, and how will it transform global geopolitics. The implications even stretch to the Americas.

What are the implications of Russia’s invasion for US and European alignment on global issues? How could this conflict impact Russia’s actions in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the leadership from the United States and its allies in response? How could the Kremlin’s international isolation affect relations with Nicolás Maduro and US strategy in support of a political resolution in Venezuela?

Join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center and its Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security on Tuesday, March 8 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (ET) for a virtual conversation broadcast live from the Atlantic Council studio with former Commander of US Southern Command (2018-2021) and new Atlantic Council Distinguished Fellow Admiral Craig Faller (US Navy, Ret.).
