As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.

Please join the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security’s Transatlantic Security Initiative for a virtual public discussion on “NATO 20/2020: Twenty bold ideas to reimagine the Alliance after the 2020 US election,” on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. EST via the Zoom platform, where authors from the Atlantic Council’s eponymous volume of essays will showcase their bold ideas for discussion.

More than two decades after NATO’s inspired decision to invite former adversaries to join its ranks, the Alliance once again needs innovative ideas to navigate complex security challenges ranging from great-power competition to climate change. Fortunately, we have twenty.

Join us to hear about these provocative ideas for transforming the Alliance, including how NATO can build resilience for an era of shocks, supersize cyber investments, open a bank, build an Atlantic-Pacific Partnership, end the Russian veto on Georgian accession, and even seek membership from Mexico.

The event will feature a fireside chat with NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană on NATO’s 2030 initiative and the future of the Alliance. We’ll then hear a series of short idea pitches from our next-generation authors and solicit reactions from a panel of NATO experts.

Register now by clicking on the REGISTER button above. We hope you can join us for this critical and timely discussion.
