The Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security hosted Lieutenant General Bruno Kasdorf, the Chief of Staff of the German Army, on Monday, February 20. General Kasdorf presented the German perspective on international security issues, including the latest developments regarding NATO and Europe, in a new, dynamic security environment.

General Kasdorf discussed Germany’s perspective on various security challenges and then went on to define his country’s national security priorities in the new global context. During the question and answer session, many important topics were discussed ranging from the Ukraine crisis to the need for language training. Much of the discussion focused around the theme of reassurance and deterrence, interoperability, and long-term multilateral cooperation.

Magnus Nordenman, the Deputy Director of the Scowcroft Center, moderated the discussion which featured participants from industry, current and former defense, security, and military leaders, as well as a host of Atlantic Council experts.
