Atlantic Council held a two-part NATO Forum public discussion on the future of the Alliance on the eve of the NATO Lisbon Summit.

The Forum kicked off with remarks by The Honorable Philip H. Gordon, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, who outlined the Obama Administration’s priorities for the Lisbon NATO Summit and the follow-on U.S.-EU Summit.

After a brief luncheon reception, the Forum continued with a panel discussion featuring prominent voices with deep experience and expertise on NATO issues. General Bantz Craddock, Former Supreme Allied Commander Europe, The Honorable Robert Hunter, Former U.S. Ambassador to NATO and Mr. Sarwar A. Kashmeri, Atlantic Council Non-Resident Senior Fellow and author of the forthcoming book: “NATO 2.0: Reboot or Delete?” presented their views on the future of NATO and what the Alliance must do to remain relevant after the Lisbon summit.

The discussion is part of the Atlantic Council’s ongoing series – The NATO Forum – which has served as the Euro-Atlantic community’s premier venue for discussion, debate and analysis on issues relating to NATO and its future. The Forum has featured major public speeches from senior statesmen, roundtable strategy sessions with decision-makers and leading analysis from experts and practitioners from across the Atlantic on matters relating to the Alliance.
