Dr. Matthew T. McGuire will discuss innovative financing mechanisms in fragile and conflict affected states. One of the issue areas that he will be presenting following the Leaders’ Summit on the Global Refugee Crisis on the margins of the UN General Assembly is the humanitarian-development nexus and the role of the international development community in improving the welfare of the refugee population. McGuire will be joined by Mr. Christopher Schroeder and Ms. Manal Omar, who respectively convened working groups on economic recovery and revitalization (Schroeder) and rebuilding societies (Omar) for the Atlantic Council’s Middle East Strategy Task Force (MEST). MEST is co-chaired by former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former US National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley.
