USA Today quotes Transatlantic Relations Program Nonresident Senior Fellow Nicholas Dungan on Britain’s military presence in advance of the most unpredictable national election in decades:

Britain’s military, which has shrunk to its lowest levels since England lost the American colonies and the United States came into being, has no capability to project global power, says Nicholas Dungan of the Atlantic Council. It has no aircraft carriers, no homegrown defense industry, and its nuclear capability “is essentially controlled by the United States,” Dungan said.
