J. Peter Pham, director of the Atlantic Council’s Africa Center, reviewed Africa and the War on Drugs by Neil Carrier and Gernot Klantschnig in the current issue of the International Journal of African Historical Studies.

According to Pham, the book is “an ambitious attempt to present an alternative perspective on the question of drug use and trafficking across the continent” and while “the authors are not entirely successful in making their case…their argument nonetheless is one that deserves to be engaged.”
