Overview
The Freedom and Prosperity Center aims to increase the well-being of people everywhere and especially that of the poor and marginalized in developing countries through unbiased, data-based research on the relationship between prosperity and economic, political, and legal freedoms, in support of sound policy choices.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Development to expand the funding sources of our Center. He or she will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive development strategy to support the Center’s growth.
The Director of Development will work closely with the Center’s Senior Director and the Deputy Director. This position requires a strategic thinker with an existing donor network who can identify and build relationships with new donors and stakeholders and who has a passion for promoting the Center’s mission and values.
This position is preferably based in our Washington DC headquarters, though the role could be fully remote for the right candidate. Pay is commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers starting at $120,000.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to raise money for the Center from new funding sources.
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual, corporate, government, and foundation donors in the USA and abroad to support the Center’s initiatives.
- Implement, support, and attend fundraising events with new donors and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Atlantic Council’s development to ensure coordination and alignment of development efforts.
- Maintain donor communications through various means such as a donor newsletter, an impact report, thank you notes, and emails.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as non-profit management, business, or communications.
- Significant experience in non-profit, federal, corporate, and/or private equity fundraising, with a proven track record of success.
- A background in working with family offices would be particularly interesting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- Experience in grant writing.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, tight knit team.
- Knowledge of fundraising software and databases, as well as best practices in development operations.
- A passion for promoting the Freedom and Prosperity Center’s mission and values.
