Overview

The South Asia Center seeks a talented, dynamic, and entrepreneurial individual for a fast-paced position as a Project Assistant. The selected candidate will be deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of and provide logistical support to the Center and its various portfolios, support in the day-to-day programming and administrative needs of the Center, and help coordinate media outreach and communications needs with the broader organization and external partners. The selected candidate will work closely with the senior director, the Pakistan Initiative director, the assistant director, and other members of the team, as well as colleagues across the Atlantic Council. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to communicate effectively. The position requires a strong record of supporting programs and events, excellent administrative and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative disposition. This is a full-time position.

Job responsibilities

  • Help advance the direction of the South Asia Center’s programming, by providing new ideas for high-impact activities and implementing new initiatives.
  • Assist the Center in its day-to-day communications and outreach needs to media; work with external consultants as needed and across the Council to coordinate press releases, tip sheets, press calls, and expert pitching; coordinate and manage logistics for events, roundtables, and briefings.
  • Provide research, administrative, and logistical assistance to Center staff.
  • Contribute to a range of ongoing projects, including the planning and execution of meetings, drafting memos, fulfilling administrative tasks, and other activities as needed.
  • Help organize expert briefings with stakeholders in multilateral organizations, financial institutions, government, and the private sector.
  • Produce relevant summaries of meetings both for internal record keeping and external knowledge sharing.
  • Assist the team with special projects, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international affairs, public policy, business administration, communications or a related field.
  • Proven track record in supporting multiple projects simultaneously and a demonstrated ability to work efficiently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient English-language writing skills and superior communication skills.
  • Self-starter who can balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, logistical, and administrative skills; experience in grant and database management highly desirable.
  • Research and writing skills in the areas of international relations or a related field.

The South Asia Center serves as the Atlantic Council’s focal point for work on the region as well as relations between these countries, neighboring regions, Europe, and the United States.
