2010 Atlantic Council Global Citizen Awards Dinner

On September 23rd, international luminaries gathered at the inaugural Atlantic Council Global Citizen Award Dinner, honoring Professor Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of World Economic Forum, upon the forum’s 40th Anniversary.

The dinner, hosted by the Atlantic Council International Advisory Board, held in New York during the exciting week of the United Nations General Assembly, was co-chaired by its Chairman General Brent Scowcroft and members, including: Josef Ackermann, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Victor Chu, Richard Edelman, James Goodnight, Muhtar Kent, Aleksander Kwasniewski, Bob Moritz,  Rupert Murdoch and Sir Martin Sorrell. Other distinguished individuals, who joined us as co-chairs of the evening include: Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr al Qasimi the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, Steve Denning of General Atlantic, Khaled Juffali of E.A. Juffali and Borthers, Kevin Kelly of Heidrick & Struggles, Patrice Motsepe of African Rainbow Minerals, Vikram Pandit of Citigroup, Andrew Prozes of LexisNexis, Joseph Schoendorf of Accel Partners, Martin Senn of Zurich Financial Services, James S. Turley of Ernst & Young and John Wren of Omnicom Group.

The Award Dinner highlighted the exceptional achievements of one of the more prominent global citizens and intellectual entrepreneurs of our time. Senior government officials, leading policy makers, corporate leaders and well-known artists – among them a great many friends of Klaus Schwab – were in attendance.

The program featured a debate among three CEOs about the global future, remarks by Professor Schwab and a special artistic performance by one of the most famous piano virtuosos Lang Lang.
