WASHINGTON, DC – The Atlantic Council is now accepting applications for its third class of Veterans Take Point Initiative fellows. The Take Point Initiative provides world-class training, professional networking and mentorship, and grants to post-9/11 veterans seeking to become nonprofit and thought leaders in international affairs. All eligible veterans are encouraged to apply at www.takepointx.org before October 1, 2016.

Take Point was launched in 2014 to support post-9/11 veterans transitioning to careers as nonprofit and thought leaders in the policy field, and provide them with a voice in key discussions shaping American foreign policy, national security, and the narrative around veterans in America. This year’s program offers two distinct fellowship tracks for applicants – Nonprofit Leadership and Thought Leadership (for projects such as research papers, publications, and documentary films). The Atlantic Council, in partnership with the Bob Woodruff Foundation, will award a total of $40,000 to support veteran-run projects by fellows along these tracks. Grants will be awarded at the end of the fellowship via a competitive pitch process.

Take Point offers veterans a pathway to service-oriented civilian careers where they can continue to support American national security. Since 2015, Take Point has featured two classes of exceptional veterans aged thirty-five and under, including former officers and former enlisted men and women who served in the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force. Among them were the founders and CEOs of the HillVets, Defense Entrepreneurs Forum (DEF), No One Left Behind, VetImpact, and the Returning Caribbean Nationals Foundation, as well as representatives of well-respected veteran nonprofits including Service to School, Vets Campaign, and Team Rubicon. A full list of last year’s fellows can be found online.

This program is made possible by the generous support of the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF). BWF works to ensure injured veterans and their families are thriving long after they return home. The team at BWF navigates the maze of over 46,000 nonprofit organizations to find and fund innovative programs in communities where veterans, their families, and caregivers live and work. The Atlantic Council is honored to join the Bob Woodruff Foundation grantee network, a collaboration of top-tier programs and advocates working to help our heroes on the homefront.
