New Voices for a Stronger US-German Relationship

The US-German Next Generation Project is a project the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Relations Program launched in February 2015 to strengthen the US-German relationship from a “next generation” perspective. The project has three components: 1) the Next Generation Network, 2) the Next Generation Fellows and 3) the Next Generation report.

• The Next Generation Network (the “Network”) is an online discussion forum where Americans and Germans worldwide between the ages of twenty-five and thirty-five (that is ten-years-old or younger when the Berlin Wall fell) are able to generate and exchange ideas on strengthening the US-German relationship.
• The Next Generation Fellows (the “Fellows”) are twelve Washington, DC-based Americans and Germans (six Americans and six Germans) between the ages of twenty-five and thirty-five whom the Atlantic Council selected in late March to prepare the Next Generation report.
• The Next Generation report (the “Report”) “Through a New Prism: A Next Generation Strategy for the US-German Relationship,” is a thirteen-page report which provides eighteen recommendations for ways to strengthen the US-German relationship from a “next generation” perspective. The report was published on June 9th, 2015 in Washington, DC and Berlin, and was prepared by the Fellows under Atlantic Council oversight. A German version of the report was published on June 30th.
