Combatant Command Task Force Holds Second Meeting

On December 6, the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security hosted the second meeting of the Combatant Commands (COCOMs) Task Force.

The session included multiple expert briefings on the usefulness of the current COCOM structure, the interagency process, the role of service commands, and how to use COCOMs to make US defense more efficient during an austere budget environment. After the briefings, the event turned into a general discussion involving former high-level government officials, four-star generals, academic leaders, think tankers, and business leaders.

The Task Force underscores the work the Scowcroft Center is doing in looking at how the United States should think about its defense priorities and strategy as it heads forward into the world outlined by the Global Trends 2030 report.
