About
The Romania Office advances the Atlantic Council’s work to strengthen transatlantic cooperation on energy, economics, technology, and security, in partnership with transatlantic government officials and private sector leaders. The office, which opened in 2025, builds on a decade of Atlantic Council programming and presence in Central and Eastern Europe, including major conferences, high-level private engagements, and timely publications.
Pillars of work
Energy and infrastructure
We work with policymakers to deepen transatlantic energy cooperation by enhancing regional interconnectivity, securing critical infrastructure, and advancing innovation to reduce costs and drive growth.
AI and technological cooperation
We work to advance transatlantic cooperation on AI by identifying competitive advantages in Central and Eastern Europe and developing scalable pathways for AI innovation and deployment across the Black Sea region.
Democracy and EU integration
We aim to strengthen transatlantic cooperation on democratic resilience by advancing the rule of law, digital transformation, and economic competitiveness, while elevating Romania’s role in the EU and regional stability.
Regional security
We work to bolster Black Sea security through strengthened NATO coordination, rotational deterrence and defense posture, and sustained support for Ukraine, Moldova, and regional partners.
