Please join us on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. for a discussion on the emergence of renewable energy as an important component of US energy policy. The panel will explore the benefits that renewables can bring to domestic and international considerations on climate change, energy security, and economic developments. The panel will also discuss a recent roadmap released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) called REmap 2030 which overviews renewable energy potential in the United States and countries across the globe over the next fifteen years. 

Panelists include Adnan Amin, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency, Amos Hochstein, Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the US Department of State, Mike Carr, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the Department of Energy, and a representative from the American Council on Renewable Energy(ACORE).

Adnan Amin and Amos Hochstein will deliver keynote remarks prior to the panel discussion.  Mr. Amin will overview the trajectory of renewables as outlined in IRENA's Global Energy Roadmap - REmap 2030 and touch on key sector findings, costs and benefits, and technologies.  Mr. Hochstein will address the impact of renewables on energy geopolitics.  The Hon. Richard L. Morningstar, Founding Director of the Atlantic Council's Global Energy Center will provide welcome remarks and moderate the discussion.

 

The event will be followed by a networking reception in the lobby from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
