Just over a year after President Obama appointed him special envoy to Sudan and South Sudan—during which time the world’s youngest country descended into violence and the conflict continued in parts of Sudan, including Blue Nile and South Kordofan—Booth will deliver a public policy address on recent security, political, and humanitarian developments in Sudan and South Sudan, outlining US policy and the Administration’s view of the way forward.
Booth previously served as ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (2010-2013), to the Republic of Zambia (2008-2010), and to the Republic of Liberia (2005-2008). He earned a Bachelor’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University, a Master’s degree in business administration from Boston University and a Master’s degree in national security studies from the National War College.
