Please join the Atlantic Council’s Global Business and Economics Program on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for a high-level panel discussion on the internationalization of China's currency (RMB) and its impact on foreign and regulatory policy in today's volatile markets. In the context of President Xi's visit, the Atlantic Council, Thomson Reuters, the City of London Corporation, and Standard Chartered welcome you to this unique discussion which will conclude the worldwide launch of Renminbi Ascending: How China's Currency Impacts Global Markets, Foreign Policy, and Transatlantic Financial Regulation, which examines the increasing role played by the currency in international payments and finance.

In a rare opportunity for a US audience, Chinese officials will speak publicly about the currency, its valuation (and recent devaluation), and the current policy climate.  The report advocates a measured policy response to the currency's availability consisting of stronger macro prudential and regulatory protections, proactive multilateral engagement, and a heightened involvement by private market participants in the process of Chinese capital account liberalization.

This event, the final in a global series that has included officials from the International Monetary Fund, investors and asset managers, financial authorities, and experts from the European Union, United States, and Asia- will feature a highly distinguished group of leading officials from China that will discuss the findings of the report, and reflect on the key issues and themes raised.
