On Monday, April 14 at 4:00 p.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center hosts a book launch for Night Train to Odesa: Covering the Human Cost of Russia’s War by Jen Stout, Scottish journalist, writer, and radio producer.

Jen Stout has lived in Germany and Russia, frequently working in Ukraine. Her coverage of deportations in the Kharkiv region was shortlisted for an Amnesty Media Award and her book Night Train to Odesa was a BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week and won the Saltire Society First Book of the Year Award.

In her debut book, Stout tells the stories of ordinary people fighting to survive and defend their country, with vivid tales from the front lines, Ukrainian cities, and everyday life amidst Russian aggression against Ukraine. Her first-hand account highlights personal relationships, struggles, and larger questions of identity and history.

The in-person event features a discussion moderated by Melinda Haring, senior advisor at Razom for Ukraine and nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, and Jen Stout, author of Night Train to Odesa, exploring Ukrainian society and life on the ground during wartime.
