On Friday, August 15, at 4:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. COT, the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center, in partnership with the National Business Association of Colombia (ANDI), will host a conversation with Senators Bernardo Moreno (R-OH) and Rubén Gallego (D-AZ), live from Bogotá, Colombia.

Moreno and Gallego, the first two Colombian-Americans elected to the US Senate, will be discussing US-Colombia ties at a crucial moment for the bilateral relationship.

Built on over twenty years of security cooperation and a shared commitment to economic prosperity, this relationship has been a strategic anchor for US interests in the hemisphere. Today, however, the US-Colombia relationship is facing a major test given the worsening security situation, political polarization, and Colombia’s recent controversial decision to join China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Against that backdrop, this event will examine whether, and how, the two countries can responsibly deepen commercial and investment ties, recalibrate security cooperation, and navigate China’s growing role to sustain a more prosperous and mutually beneficial business climate.

This event will also be livestreamed on ACTV, YouTube, and X. To join virtually, please complete the registration form.
