On Tuesday, October 21st at 3:00 p.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub will host a fireside chat with former US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns.

US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are engaging in tit-for-tat jockeying to see which nation can force the most consequential concessions from the other. This year has been a tariff roller-coaster, with on-again/off-again tariffs, flip-flop high-level meeting plans, and negotiators rushing back and forth to avoid total derailment.

In this conversation, Burns will share insights on what is happening behind the scenes and what we should expect over the coming days and months.

The fireside chat will be held in-person at the Atlantic Council. This event will take place in person and virtually on ACTV, YouTube, and Facebook. To attend, please register below.

New policy: In-person attendees will be required to show photo ID upon arrival, and no on-site registration will be permitted. Guests will not be admitted later than twenty minutes after the event’s start time. Registration for this event will close at 5:00 p.m. ET the day prior.
