Morgan D. Bazilian

Morgan D. Bazilian is a nonresident senior fellow with the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center, the director of the Payne Institute for Public Policy, and a professor at the Colorado School of Mines. He is an expert on energy and minerals security, policy, markets, and investment.

Previously, Bazilian served as lead energy specialist at the World Bank and, earlier in his career, was a senior diplomat at the United Nations focusing on energy poverty.  

He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, an energy security advisor to the National Laboratory of the Rockies, an adjunct professor of thermal physics at University College Cork, and an advisor to the Global Energy Center’s Energy and Defense program.

He has published more than 250 scholarly articles and has been published in Science, Nature, Foreign Affairs, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Science.

Bazilian holds a PhD in thermodynamics and was a Fulbright fellow.
