Jess Hoversen is a nonresident senior fellow with the Atlantic Council’s GeoEconomics Center, chief economist at Column, and director of the firm’s geoeconomics initiative, Hegemoney.
Prior to joining Column, Hoversen served as the Department of Treasury’s acting and deputy OFAC attaché for South America and the Caribbean at the US embassy in Bogotá. She spent over a decade as a senior economist with the US Department of State and the Central Intelligence Agency, focusing on the intersection of national security, macroeconomics, and the financial system. Before her government service, she worked as a derivatives trader at the Chicago Board of Trade and a currency strategist for MF Global. She holds a BS from Marquette University in economics, finance, and dance, and an MA in economics from DePaul University.
