What’s next for Serbia after the vote

Experts discuss the implications of Serbia’s parliamentary elections.

On Friday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center will host a conversation on the results of Serbia’s parliamentary elections and the implications for the country.

After nearly two years of student-led protests, the Student List won a parliamentary majority on October 25, ending Aleksandar Vučić’s long hold on power. The result raises questions about how the new government will organize itself, its priorities for its anti-corruption agenda and the rebuilding of institutions, and how it will approach Serbia’s foreign policy. It also invites broader discussion of what the outcome means for protest movements and political change in Europe.

The event, part of the Europe Center’s Balkans Forward Initiative, will focus on what the result means for Serbian politics and society, as well as the broader transatlantic picture.
