Former Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg [@jensstoltenberg] is the clear favourite to become the next Secretary General of NATO when Denmark’s Anders Fogh Rasmussen steps down in September , Italy’s La Repubblica newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The Italian paper cited anonymous sources saying that Stoltenberg’s candidacy was being pushed by both German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Barack Obama.
Stoltenberg on Tuesday refused to comment on the rumours,
