From AP: NATO’s outgoing Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer was treated at a hospital Tuesday for a blood clot after fainting during Belgian National Day festivities, officials said.

The 61-year-old NATO chief was recovering after having ‘a small blood clot’ removed, NATO spokesman James Appathurai said, adding that he would remain in the hospital for observation for three days. (photo: AP/Lefteris Pitarakis)
