President Barack Obama will announce during tomorrow night’s speech on Afghanistan that Chicago will be the site of the NATO Summit in 2012. At the last summit in Lisbon, NATO’s heads of state approved a new Strategic Concept for the alliance and agreed to meet in the U.S. in 2012 “to review progress.” Tomorrow’s speech will be the first time the specific location of the summit will be made public.
According to well placed sources, the Chicago Summit will take place in May and occur in tandem with a G-8 Summit that will include global partners. (photo: New York Times)
