Did you know that… the Dutch people celebrate “King’s Day” in honor of their King’s birthday on April 27? Willem-Alexander is the first male monarch of the Netherlands in 123 years- the day was originally called “Queen’s day”. The celebration is definitely a boon to the Dutch economy with about 250,000 visitors, a spike in souvenir and costume sales- and an astonishing 600% increase in tompouce (Dutch pastry) sales on King’s Day compared to any other day.
