On July 27, 2012, the Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East hosted a private luncheon in honor of Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) at the Metropolitan Club in Washington, DC.

Sir Suma was accompanied by a delegation of senior EBRD economists who held an off-the-record discussion with economic experts on the expansion of EBRD’s operations in Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Jordan as part of an effort to support the economies of these transitioning countries. The EBRD delegation shared financial commitments and projects it intends to implement in the region and listened to feedback from high-level participants about how the EBRD can be most effective and successful in its new area of operations.
