On July 16, 2013, the Atlantic Council’s Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center held an off-the-record strategy session with Mr. Paolo Scaroni, CEO of Eni Spa. The event took place as part of the Council’s Eurasian Energy Futures Initiative.
The session provided an opportunity to discuss the latest global political and energy developments with a special focus on Russia, the Middle East and Africa. Other topics included Europe’s energy dependence on Russia, the US-Russia relationship, and China.
Mr. Scaroni is the CEO of Italy’s largest company and one of the energy supermajors. Under his leadership Eni has grown and extended its operations substantially, with a presence in 79 countries today. Eni is a key player of the global energy scene with assets is strategic upstream oil and gas markets including Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Iraq, East Africa and the East Mediterranean among many others.
