On October 24th, the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Relations Program held an off-the-record dinner and discussion with Harold Koh, Legal Adviser to the Secretary of State, who addressed the persistent differences across the Atlantic in attitudes and approaches to international law.
The dinner served as a capstone to the first day of the Council’s Transatlantic Dialogues on International Law workshop and brought together workshop participants and other top experts in the field of international human rights law. Board directors William H. Taft IV, W. DeVier Pierson and George Moose participated in the lively dialogue, along with former Legal Advisor John B. Bellinger and Dr. Jane E. Stromseth, Senior Advisor for Rule of Law and International Humanitarian Policy in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy.
