US and Pakistan Need to Move Past Negative Narratives

Ambassador Cameron Munter event

On February 13, the Atlantic Council’s South Asia Center hosted a conversation with Ambassador Cameron Munter, former US ambassador to Pakistan. Munter touched on multiple aspects of the US-Pakistan relationship, and provided insight on how best to move forward and prevent past mistakes. Among his suggestions, Munter called for more regional engagement and diverse people-to-people contact. He stressed the long term interests of each country, and the need to move past transactional dealings and “the tyranny of negative narratives.”
