On Thursday, September 12 at 8:00 am (Eastern Time) / 8:00 pm (Taipei Time), please join the Indo-Pacific Security Initiative (IPSI) of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security for a virtual seminar on narrative warfare in Taiwan.
This event is part of IPSI’s Cross-Strait and Beyond Seminar Series, which informs the public debate on key issues for Taiwan and the United States, held in partnership with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO).
In Taiwan, the fight against narrative warfare orchestrated by the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and Russia is a daily struggle of critical importance. Disinformation campaigns threaten key political and societal nodes in Taiwan, seeking to undermine the confidence of Taiwan’s people – particularly their confidence in international support for self-rule, their ability to defend themselves, and their own government’s competence. This virtual seminar will explore foreign malign influence trends in Taiwan and the importance of information resilience in maintaining the island’s security. Speakers will also propose methods for the United States and other partners to help Taipei counter malicious narratives. The virtual audience will have the opportunity to provide questions and comments during this moderated session.
