On June 19, 2022, the United States and Colombia will celebrate two hundred years of bilateral relations. Historically, Colombia has been an indispensable ally, serving as an anchor for US relations in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and collaborating with the United States to address regional and global needs. The continuity of this prosperous relationship requires an innovative, bipartisan approach to Colombia’s pre-existing and COVID-related challenges.

What concrete steps could the United States take to support Colombia’s efforts to promote inclusive and sustainable COVID-19 recovery? How will Colombia’s economic recovery contribute to shared security and regional stability? What is the road ahead for future US-Colombia cooperation?

Join the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center on Wednesday, December 8, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. ET for a virtual, public discussion on the future of US-Colombia ties with President Iván Duque, Senator Ben Cardin, Senator Roy Blunt, and members of the US-Colombia Task Force. The event will also launch the third report of the US-Colombia Task Force, A Plan for Colombia’s COVID-19 Recovery and Why It Matters for the United States.
