As the global community continues to grapple with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Atlantic Council is open for business. Our business, meetings, and events, however, are occurring virtually. For more information, please read an update from our President and CEO.
Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, NATO defense ministers will meet for an extraordinary and unprecedented virtual ministerial on April 15. Following the Alliance’s first ever virtual meeting of foreign ministers held on April 2, Allied leaders will work to formulate a coordinated and comprehensive response to the crisis which has severely impacted several NATO Allies and partners.
To shed light on the outcomes of the defense ministerial, the Atlantic Council is excited to welcome Mircea Geoană, deputy secretary general of NATO, for a one-on-one discussion on the heels of this critical meeting. In this conversation, Ambassador Geoană will discuss measures that NATO has taken thus far to aid afflicted Allies, the Alliance’s next steps in the fight against COVID-19, and the long-term effects of the crisis on NATO’s core mission of defense and deterrence.
